Veck 2 is still a work in progress. It SHOULD be done any day now!

There’s a Retro Remakes forum article you can read here.

Oh, it’s a hidden Mickey Mouse in screenie #15!

    Finish faster.

  4. Smayds Says:

Finishing as fast as I can :/

End of June, man. End of June.

  5. SRH Says:

First one was mad fun, but the scaling was poor. After minute 9 the enemies were too few and too weak for the weapon.

I hope this will be rectified, considering the promised difficulty.

  6. Smayds Says:

Yep, that’s one of the things I’ve spent a lot of time on, balancing the difficulty out over the three difficulty levels in the new game. Seeing as the first one was thrown together over just a few weeks, it’s excusable there, but a game has to have a consistent difficulty curve right through - which I hope I should deliver :D

I love Veck so much, if for no other reason then it’s the first game thats actually made my rumble pad rumble! Smexy as!
Any way I can help contribute to the Vecks2, coding or otherwise? Email?
Also, some ideas: have force-feed back respond more to low end frequencies then high (so you get vibrations on the beat / explosions, as apposed to every noise), have some game events - like gun upgrades, surges/falloffs in guy spawn rates, new enemies appearing etc in time with similar parts of the music, like when the music fades off so does the spawn rate, and opposite for crescendos etc.
Also volumes of explosions should be louder then shooting should be louder than wall hitting in my opinion.
Fantastic game. Look forward to 2.

With the release of Geometry Wars on XP I got addicted to these sort of games. Eagerly awaiting for Veck 2.

If you have betas needing a test toss them this way. About Veck1 rumble I found it a little excessive. Since the rumble activates when you shoot, and you always shoot, it’s like having the rumble just perma on.

I’d suggest to bind the rumble effect instead to certain events, explosions for example, and the bigger the enemy blowing up the bigger can be the explosion as well. I think it would lead to a more pleasant experience.

I’d also have other things to suggest but only based on Veck1, so I’m going to wait the release of this one to suggest/comment.

as others have asked, any updates as to whether or not this will still be released?

I was looking for games similar to Geometry Wars and found this mentioned on the official GW site, but it seems I’ll have to check back later, so I’ll just wish you good luck: GOOD LUCK!

Well nobody has posted here since early this year. Looks like this project is dead. What a shame. I would have gladly bought it. The free version Veck - Special edition was very fun. This Veck 2 could have potentially been a Geometry Wars killer if you ask me.

Love to see and play this game when it is done! Good luck with it! I found it off a mention on Bizarre’s website.
